Private I, Private Life

Private I, Private Life

I present myself to you.

Unlike a picture which represents what a person looks like, in whatever capacity, a portrait works to provide the spectator with tangible information as to who a person is. Through identifying the attributes that make up that person, portraiture preserves as well as communicates the essence, but also the truth, of the subject.

Private I, Private Life allows me to share myself with you. Not because you asked, but rather because I demand you to look. I challenge you to think critically about people and their personas, as well as the perceptions we have of ourselves and others.

Through this project, I challenge my right to privacy in order to start conversations important to me and the intersectional communities I identify with, further claiming and validating my vessel, face, and myself as an expert on me. Prompting everyone who sees this piece to think the same of themselves, and understand for others.

Come in, experience me with me.
There are notecards by the red light, leave a comment.
I want to know your experience.
